Foshan Industrial Cluster Project Closing and Signing Ceremony

The Industrial Clusters Development and Capital Operation (ICDCO) Foshan International Model City Project began last year in April, in cooperation with the Foshan City government and the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office of China. Both entities signed an agreement of cooperation to improve industrial clustering in Foshan as well as to promote citywide investment.  Last week’s combined ‘Foshan Closing - Signing Ceremony’ Event detailed and reviewed the various cooperation results over the year long cooperation.  

The Foshan project itself consisted of in-depth field research, holding various expert forums, trainings and seminars to promote new concepts in sustainability and investment while attracting international enterprises to invest in Foshan. Additionally, the project team help to establish industrial funds as well as leading renowned international equity investment institutions to Foshan for the promotion of local strategic investment opportunities.

The first portion of the closing ceremony included a high level roundtable presentation of the annual project results and discussion on the importance of industrial clustering, technology transfer and effective capital operations is Foshan. The event itself was attended by the Foshan Vice Mayor, various department heads, the Guangzhou Consul General of Israel, the Israeli Consul of Commerce and the UNIDO-ITPO ICDCO team.

The second part of the closing ceremony event or ‘workshop’ portion contained three speeches. The first speech was made by the Minister/Consul of Commerce of the Israeli consulate of Guangzhou, who gave a brief overview of the Israeli economy, the country’s development and current investment projects in Israel. The second speech was given by Dr. Roy Luo, the special assistant to the Chief Representative of UNIDO-ITPO China, who discussed industrial development and the critical nature of a strong business model to promote the high-tech industry in China and all over the world. The final speech was given by Mr. Eliezer Manor of Shirat Enterprises, who gave an insightful speech on the role of VC in the development of the High-Tech industry in Israel.

The Signing Ceremony portion of the two day event was held in Foshan’s Shunde District the following day.  Shirat Enterprises and the Shunde district government will establish a high-tech incubator, high-tech venture capital fund, build solar energy research center, lead a delegation to Israel from China, and introduce Israel's high-tech companies to collaborate on research for the commercialization of innovative and tech-intensive products. All of which is expected to have a tremendous impact upon the development of industrial clusters and the overall citywide economy.
